Assimilation of Islam and Javanese Culture

Culture and religion are which units can’t separate from our live, especially javanese and the problem of them is never end to speak and discuss. Sometime from discuss, approve the intetion and more over enmity among people. Religion and culture as though an unity that influence each other and can’t be separate, because both of them are created as the order of society.
            That why, we straight go to the place where the culture and religion diffuse and assimilate, respected as a self icon and a legacy from our forefather that we must keep and preserve. There, the culture bring out of religion as application from and respect to the religion.
            Jogjakarta is a city where full histories and culture and relegion sense. A special one. Combine contitution and empire system which so special and has a glorious personal. Jogjakarta sultante is one of dissension of some Mataram kingdom where devide become two sultanates, they are Jogja sultanate leaded by Hamengkubuwono and Surakarta sultanate leaded by Pakubuwono.
            In religion, nation state, Jogja sultanate well know by the regularly and be close to the people and they didn’t leave the elder culture. This proofed when sultanate appoint some elder to manage relegion life.  And magnificence Islam. The elders are not very different in demand lagilation from 9 saint leaders. They use familiar approach and show Islam in a beautiful version and peaceful without damage the cold. Faith that they profess. They most important for spearding Islam is implant the faith. So, as if Islam is not a new  religion in society, but Islam is the elder religion which they vet been know it.
            The outcome of mix of custom and Islam doctrine still keep up and preserved by them, such as Sekaten. Sekaten is an annual agenda of keratin to celebrate prophet Muhammad’s Birthday. To embrace Islam they must say “syahadatain” but because javanese dialect, so they say “sekaten” on sekaten there’s Miyos Gongso ceremony, it’s paraded gamelan which will use in sekaten ceremony.
            Many Islamic valve on sekaten, such as given alm by the king and seized by the society it show that we most imitate the king to like charity to the other. Javanese and Islamic result also finded. Everyday  the servant burn Dupa incense and put some flowers around it such as prensenting for the Hollyspirit and put in the corner of room, we know that burning incense is a Budha custom, and some flowers put as presenting is a Hindu custom. Islam don’t damage it direcly and judge it as a forbidden thing.
            Personality of Hamengkubuwono recognized saint and care to his environment and society. So that why Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono has been given a name “sayyidin panatanagama khalifatulloh” the mean the leader who arrange the relogion and as caliph of Allah and it show that Sri Sultan is a good Moslem and he is on of the “thoriqoh syathoriyah” members.
            In Islam we trained to respect the other and no hostility. Allah said holly Qur’an Ud’U ila sabili robbika bil hikmati wal mauidhoti hasanah wajadilhum bilati hiya ahsan And on other verse, he said Wa’tashimu bi habillahi jami’a wa laa tafarroku. And  it’s way that used by the elders to introduce Islam, not with a force and now, you can see that Indonesia is the biggest and and the strongets Islamic state, eventhough so far from the place where Islam was born. It’s a proof that islam is peaceful religion and have mercy on the world.
